PAS Syura Council supported Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to remain as the Selangor state's Menteri Besar when he was still a PKR member, said PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Abdul Hadi said the issue of support does not arise now as the Port Klang assemblyman is no longer a PKR member, Harakahdaily reported.

“So, the issue does not arise anymore. Even Abdul Khalid was reported to have said that he appreciated PAS’s decision yesterday,” he was quoted by the news portal.

PAS central committee had in a meeting yesterday named PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali as the Selangor MB candidate to replace Abdul Khalid.

However, the Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council last night had named Dr Wan Azizah as the sole candidate to replace Abdul Khalid.

Commenting on this, Abdul Hadi said it was now up to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to decide on the next Selangor MB and whether to dissolve the state assembly.

“We cannot interfere. If His Royal Highness decides to dissolve, we have to accept the reality. But, we hope that does not happen,” he said.
