Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail remains as the Pakatan Rakyat's sole candidate for the Selangor Menteri Besar position.

This was the verdict from the coalition's council meeting today despite PAS deputy president who had earlier suggested PKR deputy president Mohamad Azmin Ali for the position.

"The Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council appreciates the decision of PAS to remain in Pakatan Rakyat and the need to replace the Selangor Menteri Besar.

"However, Azmin Ali insisted that he remain supportive to the decision of Dr Wan Azizah as a candidate for the new Selangor Menteri Besar," said the joint statement by PKR de factor leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and PAS deputy president Mohamed Sabu.

He said the PR will continue to present this decision to the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Earlier, PAS had proposed Dr Wan Azizah and Azmin Ali as a successor to Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who was sacked from PKR on August 9.

The decision was made by PAS in a meeting at about 10:00 am to discuss the issue of Selangor MB.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid received the PAS latest decision on his status with an open heart.

However, he said he will meet the Selangor Sultan for advice on his next steps.
