The full attire worn by Penang footballer, Mohd Faiz Subri during a match against Pahang FC on Tuesday will be auctioned off by the Football Association of Penang (FAP).

Its treasurer, Datuk M. Murly said the attire which includes Mohd Faiz’s jersey, socks and shoes would be put up for bid starting at RM100,000.

He said the full proceeds would be channelled towards the development of youth football in the state.

"The attire which Mohd Faiz wore that night (Tuesday) will be signed by himself and will be put up for auction on our official website.

"We want to raise funds for the club and we also want to attract more sponsorship from the private sectors. But most importantly, we want to see how this phenomenon can help boost our local players," Murly told a press conference here yesterday.

Meanwhile, at the same press conference, Mohd Faiz said he was grateful for everything that has happened, for his achievement, for scoring that swerving goal which gained him instant fame, both locally and abroad.

However, he said it was way too early for himself to be compared with Brazilian player, Roberto Carlos.

"Alhamdullilah, I'm very grateful for that video of me scoring a goal becoming viral. Thank you to my teammates and coach, but I think it's not right for myself to be compared with Roberto Carlos. He is a legend."

When asked about his thoughts if he gets nominated in The 2016 FIFA Puskás Award, he said it would be an opportunity for him to elevate his team's and Malaysia's status in world football.

Mohd Faiz's free kick on Tuesday night attracted coverage from the international press, including a mention on Mirror.
Meanwhile, FAP head coach, Jackson Ferriera Tiago said Mohd Faiz has a lot of potential and is special in his own way.

"His shooting technique is really good. I hope he will keep on training and polish his skills to score more goals from here on," he said.

In the match at the City Stadium on Tuesday, Penang beat Pahang 4-1.

The beautiful goal from the free kick at the 62nd minute had attracted the world's interest, including several international portals.

British news portal, British Independent had deemed the goal a possibility in winning the FIFA Puskás Award 2016 as "Goal of the Year".
