Ibrahim said, Mukhriz does not have anything to lose in the menteri besar tussle but it is actually UMNO and Barisan Nasional that are at a loss.
“Even the younger generation view Mukhriz as their icon. Mukhriz does not have anything to lose as he is still young and has a lot of time,” said Ibrahim in a media statement today.
A concerned Ibrahim also raised the question pertaining the move by Kedah UMNO leadership who attended a press conference yesterday.

“Are they questioning Mukhriz's appointment made by the Prime Minister and face the Disciplinary Committee?” he said.
He is too worried that the move by the Kedah UMNO which is viewed as legit by Central UMNO leadership, will be a benchmark by other states.

“Just give any excuses, if the issue is about Mukhriz being a weak leader and this notion is accompanied merely by vague excuses, what about that concerning UMNO chairmen and menteri besar in the other states?
Ibrahim cited Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed as an example. Mustapha, said Ibrahim has helmed the party in Kelantan for several terms and hold several positions in Central government and yet has not succeeded in retaining BN’s victory in Kelantan.
“Does this mean that Kelantan UMNO is satisfied with his leadership?,” asked Ibrahim.
At the 13th General Election, Mukhriz has been lauded as the winning factor for BN to win back Kedah from PAS.
