Nearly 1,000 rally in support of Mukhriz

Nearly 1,000 people gathered at the Kedah Umno building here in support of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir.

They gathered since 8pm today to voice support for Mukhriz who was said to be present in the building to attend the Jerlun Umno Division meeting tonight.

As soon as Mukhriz, who is also Jerlun Umno division head, arrived at about 9pm, the crowd shouted words of support for him and the menteri besar waved to them before going into the Umno building.

Also present in the Umno building compound was Kota Siputeh assemblyman, Datuk Abu Hassan Shariff.

Earlier today, almost all Kedah UMNO leaders expressed their loss of confidence in Mukhriz as Menteri Besar and state Umno Liaison Committee chairman.

Kedah UMNO liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanifah announced the stand after a closed-door meeting with almost all Umno assemblymen and members of Parliament in the state, here today.

Heads of the state UMNO Youth, Puteri and Wanita wings also attended the meeting.

Ketua Menteri Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Haji Noor berkata beliau juga gembira apabila menyedari inisiatif hala tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) membuahkan hasil.
