Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang has been suspended from attending the Dewan Rakyat sessions for six months, with immediate effect.

The decision came after Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Azalina Othman Said tabled a motion at 11.40am Thursday, to suspend the DAP Parliamentary leader for his remarks towards Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.

The voting results saw 107 MPs voting for the motion and 77 MPs voting against it after about 90 minutes of debate.

The decision was announced by Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee

Lim on Monday, had accused Pandikar of abusing his power when he temporarily suspended the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) investigations into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Pandikar then ordered Lim to retract his statement and apologise for making such allegations or risk the possibility of suspension.

Earlier today, Azalina had also gave Lim some time to retract his statement and apologise to the Speaker or risk being suspended.
