PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has taken a stand back and preferred to stay away from the issue of Selangor Menteri Besar, currently engulfing the state.

The former Kelantan MB said he would abide by any decision taken by the PAS Central Committee on the matter.

Nik Aziz said this when asked to comment on PAS’s decision to name three candidates for the Selangor MB position.

The candidates’ list is said to have left out the name of PKR’s president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who was earlier the only choice for the Pakatan Rakyat to replace current MB, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

The list of the three names have been submitted to the palace.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali had earlier confirmed that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had submitted three names to be considered for the Selangor MB post.

Mustafa said the three names were submitted as a sign of respect for the Selangor Sultan who had ordered the PR parties to submit more than two names for consideration for the MB post.
