Three state executive council members from PAS claimed ignorance over a report that the party has submitted their names as candidates for the Selangor menteri besar post.

Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlers Committee Chairman, Iskandar Abdul Samad told Bernama that he could not verify if the report was true.

"I don't know whether the report is true or not but Selangor PAS does not know anything about it," he said Thursday.

Islamic Affairs, Agriculture Modernisation and Rural Development Committee Chairman, Sallehen Mukhyi said he was told that all PAS state assemblymen were not listed as candidates for the hot seat.

He was never informed about individuals listed as candidates for the highest office of the Selangor state administration and had no information about it.

"The report (PAS exco members nominated as new MB) is incorrect. PAS did not submit the names of its state assemblymen for the post," he said.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports, Infrastructure and Public Utilities Committee Chairman, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi declined to comment on the issue as he did not know anything about it.

Earlier Thursday, a news portal claimed that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang submitted the names of three state exco members to be considered as the new MB.

The report also said Abdul Hadi himself signed the letter before submitting it to the Selangor palace.

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had ordered the three Pakatan Rakyat parties to submit more than two names as candidates to replace MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Until Thursday, PKR was adamant in naming its president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the only candidate for the post.
