A tornado lashed through Kuala Sala, Kota Sarang Semut in Kedah at approximately 3pm today, making it the fourth incident occurred in the state in the last couple of months.

Bernama reported that at least 10 houses in Kampung Sungai Nonag, Tebengau was badly damaged by a tornado hit.

The whirlwind is believed to come from the field in the village (from the north) occurred within 10 minutes.

A victim, Che Tim Ahmad, 54, told Bernama, she with her two children Mohamad Azrul Zainal, 14, and Zahirah Zainal, 16, were caught by surprise and shocked by the sound of the strong wind that lifts and damaged the roof of their house.

The housewife said they had to take refuge in the house because they could not open the main door due to the strong wind pressure.

"My two children and I panicked when it happened and could only pray after being unable to open the door. Thank God we are all safe and not injured," she told Bernama who met her at the scene.

Images of the tornado have started flooding the social media merely minutes after the phenomenon struck the country's northern-tip state.

On Nov 2, a tornado hit the state's Taman Wira Mergong, Alor Setar which saw 13 houses badly damaged.

The tornado also known as `belalai darat' also hit Pendang, damaging 14 houses as well as in Kota Setar, leaving 71 homes damaged.
