IPOH: The high cost of maintaining the Perak FC team is among the factors cosmetic industry entrepreneur Datuk Seri Dr Hasmiza Othman is looking into before committing herself to buying over the team.

Hasmiza, popularly known as Datuk Seri Vida, said a careful evaluation was necessary to ensure a win-win situation as running a football team involved major expenses such as players' salaries.

"I'm still looking into the overhead, maintenance cost, the hire purchase aspect, players' salaries, which players can be developed and a host of other issues. The factor of crowd support also needs to be considered.

"All these require a smart investment that can possibly give returns in two years to make the venture worthwhile," Vida, who is also a gold trader, told Bernama here recently.

She said the football industry was a risky business because it took time to realise the return on investment and revenue may not be stable.

She said her experience in sponsoring The Red Warriors (TRW) in 2015 and 2016 had taught her to be more careful in investing in any football team.

"Football is a risky business. It's seasonal. Even if there is (fan) support, there is no guarantee of returns in the form of sales of jerseys and souvenirs," said Vida, who was born in Kelantan but has been residing in Perak for some time.

The Bos Gaurus team have been without a chief executive officer since the resignation of Rizal Ali Naizali on May 10 this year.

Vida was among several names proposed by Bos Gaurus supporters to helm Perak FC, with the others being former Perak FA presidents Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan and former Perak FA manager Datuk Jamal Nasir Rasdi.
