KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in the four states of Johor, Melaka, Kelantan and Perak recorded an increase last night while Selangor showed a decline in evacuees.

While the floods in Penang have recovered after the last temporary evacuation centre (PPS), SK Lahar Yooi, which housed 37 people (from eight families), closed today.

In JOHOR, the District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) informed that the number of flash flood victims placed at six PPS in Segamat, Kluang, Pontian and Tangkak districts increased to 318 evacuees tonight compared to 310 victims at 4 pm.

The weather in several districts was reported to be cloudy including Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru and Pontian.

In MELAKA, the secretariat of the Melaka State Disaster Management Committee said flood victims at two PPS in Alor Gajah increased to 51 people (16 families) tonight, compared to 41 people (12 families) at 8 am.


A total of 12 victims (six families) were placed at Kampung Gadek community hall PPS while the Durian Tunggal DUN development and coordination committee hall PPS housed 39 victims (10 families).

"All the displaced are from Kampung Gadek, Kampung Bukit Tambun, Kampung Bukit Balai, Kampung Pulau and Kampung Belimbing while one other area was also flooded in Central Melaka, namely Taman Bukit Beruang Bestari, but no PPS was opened," he said.

In KELANTAN, the Disaster Info portal of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) showed flood victims still rising when a total of 2,124 people (713 families) were accommodated in eight PPS in Pasir Mas District as of 9pm, compared to 2,076 (693 families) in the evening.

Meanwhile, according to a report from https://publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my/ Sungai Kelantan in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas had exceeded the warning level with a reading of 9.34 metres.

In PERAK, as of 9 pm today, there were 254 victims at six PPS, namely SK Changkat Lobak (Kerian); SM Abdul Rahman Talib hall, Kampung Piandang hall (Siputeh); Kampung Jelapang hall, Kampung Simpang Halt hall and Kampung Padang Temak hall.


SK Changkat Lobak recorded a slight increase to 34 victims this evening, compared to 10 in the afternoon, with four more evacuees were placed in PPS Kampung Padang Tembak.

Meanwhile, the Kampung Jelapang PPS in the Larut Matang and Selama district showed a downward trend with only 12 people (two families) compared to 40 earlier.

In SELANGOR, based on the Social Welfare Department's (JKM) InfoBencana website, victims in the state continued to decline to 126 evacuees (36 families) tonight, compared to 144 victims (44 families) in the evening.

Three PPS are still operating compared to six in the morning, at SK Sungai Sireh; SKM Jeram and SJKC Yuk Chih Batang Berjuntai.
