KOTA KINABALU: Every leader must have a firm stand in ensuring loyalty and struggle to the party for the mandate of the people.

According to Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, the matter is important as the people have placed their hopes on the elected representatives to fight for and bring about changes in the current administration.

He also stressed that every elected representative was reminded not to be swept away by any position and rank offered.

"There are some who say take (the post of) Chief Minister but the post is not a calculation in the political world.

"(On the other hand) what the people really want is for us, not the Chief Minister. The people in Sabah want their rights like the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).

"In this regard, we do not want to disappoint the people," he said in a talk session on Facebook coordinated by Kubang Rotan Assemblyman (ADUN); Asmirul Anuar Aris, on Sunday night.

Mohd Shafie had earlier commented on the statement when answering whether there was a justification for a mixed bloc of political parties between PH, Warisan and BN in the future.

According to him, today's politics is seen to be changing where friends can cooperate with enemies.

However, he said, what was important was to ensure that the party's principles and struggle remained.

For the record, the Warisan government administered the state government for two years before losing to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the 16th State Election (PRN16).
