ARAU: Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Perempuan of Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid feted and presented Ramadan contributions to senior citizens, orphans and media practitioners at an iftar (breaking of fast) event at Istana Arau here last night.

A total of 20 senior citizens from four welfare homes, namely Rumah Seri Kenangan Kangar; Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas Jejawi; Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas Yayasan Islam Perlis (Yips) and Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas Durani, were feted and received donations in the event.

Also feted were 19 orphans from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Arau and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Perlis as well as media practitioners in the state.

Also present were Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and their children Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah, Sharifah Farah Adriana and Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra.

Perlis state executive councillors and government agencies heads were also present.

Earlier, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin presented a contribution of RM39.095 million from the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) to 35 Islamic educational institutions statewide which are listed under the state Islamic Educational Institutions Annual Allocation 2022.

Among the recipients are Sekolah Agama Al Islahiyah (Menengah) Bohor Mali, Maahad At Tarbiyah Al Islamiyah, Sekolah Menengah Al Maad Arau and several others.

In the same event, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also performed Tarawih prayers with the guests.

In addition, a cake-cutting ceremony and 'doa selamat' were also held in conjunction with Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra's 13th birthday.
