Despite it being a Friday, the Parliament was still abuzz with activity as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) continues its second proceeding with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) president and executive director, Arul Kanda Kandasamy.

And despite not being invited to cover the proceedings, the media still waited in anticipation, hoping there would at least be a Press conference held after.

But the media was letdown when PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said there would be no such thing.

In fact, the media personnel for the Barisan Nasional Backbenchers' Club, whose office is in Parliament, was also denied entry into the building.

A source claimed the media's restricted access to Parliament today was made after Hasan confirmed there would not be a Press conference today.

It was observed that PAC's 1MDB proceedings began at 9.15am. Arul Kanda was seen leaving the premises at 12.10pm.

Meanwhile, the final report of the Auditor-General on 1MDB, scheduled to be submitted to the PAC yesterday, had also been suspended.

Arul Kanda had testified before the PAC for the first time last Dec 1.

Hasan had previously said that if the first meeting with Arul Kanda wasn't enough, the latter would be called up again.
