KUALA LUMPUR: As of midnight Sunday (June 26), Malaysia added another 2,003 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall total to 4,556,664 since the pandemic started in March 2020.

Based on the COVIDNOW portal, 2,000 from the total reported were locally transmitted while three were imported cases.

Currently,  active cases in the country stood at 28,151.

With 690 COVID-19 infections, Selangor continues to lead with the highest number of cases recorded, followed by Kuala Lumpur (517), Penang (179), Sabah (113) and Perak (101).

Other states that reported a two-digit mark were Negeri Sembilan with 87, followed by Johor (72), Malacca (56), Putrajaya (49), Sarawak (41), Kedah (38), Pahang (20), Terengganu (17) and Kelantan (14) while Perlis detected seven cases and Labuan had two.

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), there were 1,861 recoveries on Sunday.

The total number of recoveries now stands at to 4,492,767.

Meanwhile, 1,082 patients have been admitted in hospital, with 31 of them being treated in intensive care units (ICU) nationwide.

MOH reported one COVID-related death in Penang yesterday.

So far, a total of 35,746 people have lost their battle against the virus.
