KOTA BHARU:The Kelantan Islamic and Malay Customs Council  (MAIK) has allowed the opening of mosques and surau in the state for Friday and the obligatory congregational prayers, as well as other religious activities,  except those in Kubang Kerian, here, and Kusial, in Tanah Merah.

Its president, the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz said the reason being that Kubang Kerian and Kusial are still under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)  until this Dec 20.

"For the Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah and Machang districts, the congregational Friday and obligatory prayers, as well as other activities, at mosques, surau and musalla are allowed in accordance with the guidelines on the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) announced by the government.

“However, all  the surau and musalla in the Madrasah Ad-Diniah are in Kampung Huma, Pasir Puteh, which is placed under the Enhanced  Movement Control Order (EMCO), following the Huma Cluster, have been ordered  to close until a date to be announced later,” he said in a statement today.

He said the order on the closure of the surau and musalla in the Mengketil Cluster area and Istana Negeri Kubang Kerian juga also still stands until a date to be notified later.

Tengku Mohamad Rizam said the matter has been consented by Sultan Muhammad V as the religious head in the state as provided by Article 6 (1) of the Kelantan Constitution.

He said MAIK called for the cooperation of all parties to abide by the ruling.

"Together we remain steadfast and confident, apart from continuing to pray for all efforts and steps taken  be blessed by Allah SWT so that the COVID-19 epidemic that is threatening the state and the country ends soon,” he added.
