The Ministry of Health (MOH) is targeting less than 10 COVID-19 cases daily by next week.

However, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the good momentum kept up by Malaysians during the period of the Movement Control Order (MCO) needed to be maintained.

“If we can keep the momentum, we keep working with one another, we can reduce the number of cases further.

“Maybe in a week, our goal is to reduce cases to 'single digit.'

"At present, we have double digits, maybe we can reduce it to less than 10 cases and that is our target," he told a COVID-19 daily media conference here today.

Dr Noor Hisham, who celebrated his 57th birthday today, said the MOH would continue to co-operate with other parties such as the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), sample-taking and quarantine those who tested positive.

Meanwhile, the media surprised Dr Noor Hisham with a few birthday cakes after the press conference ended today.

However, the celebration was held with a new normal, with social distancing among those in the hall.

The media personnel present also sang him a spirited Happy Birthday song as the war against COVID-19 has not been won yet.
