KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 5,745 new COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported.

This brings the cumulative number of coronavirus cases in the country to 2,401,866.

As of yesterday, the country recorded an increase of 72 more deaths with a cumulative total of 27,993, according to the data from the COVIDNOW website.

The figure also includes nine Brought In Dead (BID) cases.

According to the Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, this is the second day that cases have been below the 6,000-mark.

Dr Noor Hisham said only 3.77 per cent out of the 152,478 COVID-19 tests were also done today, returned positive.

Currently, up to 94 per cent of the adult population in the country have completed their COVID-19 vaccination.

A total of 97.3 per cent of the adult population, or 22,756,938 individuals, have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
