Lim Guan Eng described the Bersih 4 rally in the nation’s capital as an assembly to “save Malaysia”.

“Malaysia is dying and today’s assembly is to save Malaysia,” the DAP secretary-general said in front of rally participants near the Dataran Merdeka this afternoon.

Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, joined many others who had defied police orders to partake in the rally despite it being declared illegal and violated the conditions under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

Before this, the organisers of Bersih 4 had stated that the rally was not political in nature but several politicians had addressed the crowd at the rally today, including Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) member Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli and GHB chairman Mohamad Sabu.
