KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin has been appointed as the new Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) from May 6.

He will replace Datuk Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff who will step down as Board Member, Group Managing Director and CEO effective May 5.

According to a statement issued by TH today, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri agreed to appoint Amrin to the post.

Amrin, Chief Executive Officer of the Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT), has over 30 years of experience in the corporate sector.

He started his career in a banking institution before holding several key positions in companies such as Renong Berhad, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad and Putera Capital Berhad.

He was later appointed CEO of Natseven TV Sdn Bhd (NTV7), Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad, Media Prima Berhad, Sime Darby Property Berhad, Boustead Holdings Berhad and LTAT.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Acadia, Canada and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) with honors from the University of Hull, England.

He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants (CIMA), UK and a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

TH chairman Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof said he was confident that Amrin's vast skills and experience would be able to bring TH to a more successful and significant level.

Md Nor also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Nik Mohd Hasyudeen for his commitment and efforts in developing TH as a respected Islamic institution for its achievements and good governance.

Nik Mohd Hasyudeen has been leading TH since September 1, 2019.

TH now has about nine million depositors and accumulated funds of almost RM80 billion.
