KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) arrested 80 individuals yesterday for breaching the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) with 79 compounded and one remanded.

Senior Minister (Defence Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said among the offences recorded were failing to provide equipment and recording personal and customer details involving 26 people, while 17 individuals did not wear face masks.

Meanwhile, nine cases were also recorded for offences of interstate and inter-district travel without permission and four cases of failing to adhere to physical distancing requirement.

On Operation Benteng, Ismail Sabri said, ten illegal immigrants (PATI) were arrested yesterday while six land vehicles and boats were also seized.

In the operation, authorities also tracked 48 boats or ships in national waters through four sighting activities.

A total of 12 illegal immigrants were also deported through a deportation activity.
