President and group executive director of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), Arul Kanda Kandasamy appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today and provided his testimony for the first time.

Arul Kanda arrived at the Parliament building at 10.30am before the start of the session.

The meeting which began at 11am was chaired by PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin and several other committee members.

“Yes, we are ready for the proceeding,” said Arul Kanda briefly when questioned by reporters.

Yesterday, former 1MDB chief executive officer Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi provided his testimony for the second time to PAC.

On November 25, PAC heard Shahrol Azral's testimony on 1MDB's governance starting from the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA) in 2009 until the official establishment of 1MDB in September 2009.

It was reported that Shahrol Azral would have to testify again before the PAC as there was some information which required further clarification.

In his previous statement Hasan said the probe on 1MDB should be thorough to ensure that the committee's report is transparent, thorough and fair.

He also stressed that both individuals should be ready to testify and this includes bringing related documents to the proceeding.
