The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will be calling up businessman Jho Low, whose real name is Low Taek Jho, as a witness in the investigation proceedings on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

PAC chairman, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the decision was made after the committee scrutinised 1MDB's investment report, through the interim report made available by the Auditor-General.

"After we checked the investments made by 1MDB, including in PetroSaudi (PetroSaudi International Ltd), we decided to call Low Taek Jho or Jho Low in his capacity as special adviser to the Advisory Board chairman of the Terengganu Investment Authority, that was verified in the Auditor-General's report," he told a news conference today.

Apart from Jho Low, several executives of companies linked to the scandal will also be call as witnesses among them, 1MDB Chief Investment Officer, Vincent Koh Beng Huat, 1MDB General Counsel, 1MDB International Holdings Limited Board Members, Datuk Shahrul Azral Ibrahim Helmi and Jasme Loo Aiwan and Brazen Sky Director, Azmi Tahir.

Companies involved in the audit of 1MDB such as Deloitte, KPMG and Ernst & Young will also be called again to explain matters that had been brought up in the Auditor-General’s interim report.

The PAC will also issue a witness summons next week and proceedings will begin mid-September.

The witness summons for Jho Low will be issued by the Finance Ministry.
