: Singapore strongly condemns the heinous terror attack at the St Petersburg Metro Monday that resulted in numerous deaths and injuries of innocent civilians.
"We convey our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, and wish the injured a speedy recovery," the republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesman said in a statement today.
The Ministry said the Singapore Embassy in Moscow has reached out to Singaporeans who are e-registered in St Petersburg, and ascertained that all of them are safe.
So far, there have been no reports of Singaporeans directly affected by or injured in the incident, it said.
The Singapore Embassy will continue to monitor the situation closely, the ministry said.
It was reported that at least 11 people have been killed and dozens of others wounded in the explosion in a train carriage on the runway between the metro stations Technological Institute and Sennaya Ploshchad (Square).
The exact causes and who were responsible for the attack remain unknown pending an official investigation.
Russian officials described the bombing as an act of terror.
