RUSSIA is denouncing a report from international prosecutors that says the Malaysian airliner that went down in Ukraine in 2014 was shot down by a Russian-made missile launched from a village held by pro-Russian rebels.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova says the conclusions are biased and politically-motivated.

She also says that Russia was not allowed to play a full role in the investigation, while Ukraine was, a situation she said allowed Kiev to steer the case in their favor.

Just hours earlier, prosecutors presented simulations showing the area from where they say the missile that struck the doomed jet was launched.

They say all the villages in the area were held by pro-Russian rebels.

Their conclusions were based on thousands of wiretaps, photographs, witness statements and forensic tests collected over more than two years

All 298 passengers and crew on the plane were killed.

Russia has long denied any involvement in the tragedy.
