When the Prime Minister of Malaysia announced the launch of the high speed rail project in 2010, with the primary aim of reducing the traveling time between the two capitals to just 90 minutes, the world took notice.

Since then, a company, collectively called the MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR Corp) was created - fully owned by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated.

MyHSR Corp is the developer and asset owner of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) project at the Malaysian side, of which they are collaborating very closely with their Singaporean counterparts.

In reimagining the possibilities of growth that this project brings to the people of Malaysia, an equally mammoth task of planning, quantifying, and executing the various economic programmes that is to run concurrently with the construction of the project falls on the shoulders of Annafi Zulkifli and his colleagues.

As the Director of Corporate Strategy of MyHSR, Annafi is tasked to develop and deliver the economic benefits that this project entails to not just the two cities of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, but to all the cities that the train cuts across.

These cities are Sepang-Putrajaya, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri.

The population of these cities need to be re-trained and re-skilled to ensure that they are able to compete in an ever increasing and demanding future that the country needs. But in doing so, Annafi Zulkifli and his colleagues have to reengineer the requirements of the future economy with that of the hundreds of the stakeholders involved in seeing it through.

Watch the full interview of Annafi Zulkifli with Ibrahim Sani as they explore the entire gamut of the Project Management Office of MyHSR. Annafi says this is the gold standard on PMO execution for many Malaysian corporates.
