A Malaysian woman was charged in court on Monday with causing hurt to her 76-year-old landlord with a dangerous weapon at a Yishun flat last Saturday night, The Straits Times reported.

Woo Mui Mee, 34, allegedly stabbed William Wong Keng Woo inside the three-room unit on the second floor of Block 114, at Yishun Ring Road.

The woman is accused of using a paper cutter to inflict injuries on Wong's left forehand.

Woo arrived at the State Courts in a police car at around 9am donning a red T-shirt and dark blue bermudas.

She had been remanded for investigation, and it is very likely the charge may be upgraded as told by the prosecution.

Report said the police had received a call at about 10pm that day, and found Wong lying motionless in his home.

The man was pronounced dead at about 11.40pm. Neighbours had also heard a commotion lasting about 15 minutes at about 8pm.

If convicted, Woo would face a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.

The case will be mentioned next Monday.
