A total of 21 students were involved in a fire incident at the Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU) in Moscow, Russia.

Out of the 21, seven are in critical condition, AFP reports. They are receiving medical treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning and burns.

According to the Malaysian embassy in Moscow, the seven are Mohannan Pattu, Pavin Raaj Selva Kumar, Praveena Sunthar Raj, Chen Wei Jun, Naveen Anbalakan, Zainal Nastaiin and Sharath Raj.

In a press statement, deputy head of mission, Francisco Munis said no casualties were reported.

“Our embassy officials have visited the students. They are also working with the university authorities to provide temporary accommodation for the affected students,” he said in the statement.

Meanwhile, AFP reported that the 16-storey dormitory belongs to RNRMU, one of the country's oldest and top medical schools.
