BANGKOK: Thailand has reported three new COVID-19 cases and no fatalities over the last 24 hours, bringing its tally to 3,040 cases with the death toll remaining at 56.

Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) assistant spokeswoman Dr Panprapa Yongtrakul said the three new cases involved two Thai nationals under quarantine -- a 24-year-old male student who returned from Egypt and a 43-year female spa therapist who returned from India -- and a 49-year-old Italian man living in Phuket.
"After the first and second phases of easing restrictions, the number of daily new cases remain low. We hope the people will continue to join hands to fight the pandemic so that we can further relax restrictions in the coming phases.

"Over the last 24 hours, six patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of patients recovered and discharged to 2,916 while 68 are still warded," she said at COVID-19 daily briefing today.
Yesterday, the CCSA agreed to extend the state of emergency until June 30, as the government prepared to further ease restrictions and reopen more venues.

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan o-cha also discussed the possibility of shortening a night-time curfew, which now runs from 11 pm to 4 am.

The extension is subject to Cabinet approval on Tuesday.
