COVID-19 positive cases worldwide have reached 2.62 million as of this morning.

Johns Hopkins University's data shows that more than 80,000 new cases of infection were reported within the last 24 hours.

Spain has now joined the United States (US) in a group of countries with positive cases exceeding 200,000.

Spain recorded a spike of more than 4,000 new cases overnight.

The US remains the worst affected country with over 839,000 cases, an increase of over 25,000 new cases.

Meanwhile, Italy and France now account for 187,000 cases and 159,000 cases respectively.

Germany and the United Kingdom (UK) recorded positive cases exceeding 100,000 with 149,000 and 134,000 new cases.

Turkey has a positive case of 98,000 and is expected to surpass 100,000 in the next few days.

The total number of COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the virus now exceeded 706,000 worldwide.
