A four-year-old boy and a policeman were killed, while eight others were wounded in the latest bomb attack in southern Thailand, which occurred in front of the Chana railway station at 5.30pm Monday.

Songkhla 9th Division Police chief Major General Akkapop Prasitwattanachai said the wounded victims were two policemen, two young girls and four civilians.

The boy who perished in the attack was identified as Ahmad Yassin Madsan, who was also related to the wounded girls.

"The bomb was placed on a motorcycle parked at the station. The explosion also caused severe damage to nearby vehicles," he told reporters here.

Akkapop said no one had claimed responsibility for the attack so far, while the police were still investigating the motive.
