Fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim's one last battle ended at 9:41 pm on Monday, as he succumbed to massive injuries inflicted on him in the line of duty.

He was set upon by the unruly mob – four of whom have already been identified and now out on bail – when his unit attended to emergency duties during the course of the disturbance at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple on 27 November.

The work of the men in uniform – the armed services, police and firemen puts their life in peril all the time.

This is not the first case of personnel from the fire and rescue services department who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Back in October (see Nota Razak Chik – video embedded below), six firemen lost their lives in their search and rescue mission for a missing angler at a weir in Puchong.

Their’s and Adib’s deaths will no doubt force a rethink of procedures to ensure no repeat of such tragedy.

Let not their deaths be in vain.
