Amendments to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) which were to be discussed and decided today have been postponed to the next Parliament sitting.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting, scheduled to end today, has been extended by one day until Monday, Dec 20, to enable the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Amendment) Bill 2021 to be decided.

The Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Amendment) Bill 2021 which includes increasing the maximum compound to RM10,000 on violators was tabled for second reading today.

Dr Adham Baba today revealed that he was really nervous when he had to sign the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) in March 2020 in order to implement the MCO.
