Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt will make his 100th appearance for the Netherlands in an unfamiliar role as a left-back in Sunday's World Cup last 16 match against Mexico.

Kuyt played the role to good affect as the Dutch sealed their spot as winners of Group B with a 2-0 win over Chile and retains his place as Louis van Gaal makes two changes from that match.

Captain Robin Van Persie returns after suspension in place of Jeremain Lens and Paul Verhaegh makes just his third international appearance in place of Daryl Janmaat.

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera makes just one change from his side's 3-1 win over Croatia last time out as Carlos Salcido replaces the suspended Jose Vazquez.
