Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has been confirmed to run for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) presidency following a plea by the national body’s affiliates.

The decision was made after the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar granted an audience with 14 delegates at the Pasir Pelangi Palace in Johor, this morning.

In a statement posted on the Johor Southern Tiger's Facebook page, Sultan Ibrahim gave his consent for his son, Tunku Ismail, who is also Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) owner to run for the post and "Change Malaysian football."

Nominations for the top post will close on February 13 and affiliated bodies will cast their votes on March 25.

Besides Tunku Ismail, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, former Home Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat and former Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) president, Tan Sri Annuar Musa were also nominated to run the FAM President post.
