Thailand retained the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship 2014 title when they defeated Australia 6-0 at the Malawati Stadium here Saturday.

With that, Thailand is now the 10-time winner, having clinched the title in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2013.

Helmed by coach Victor Hermans Jacobus, Thailand continued to stamp their supremacy when Piyapan Ratana opened the scoring account six minutes into the game before Jetsada Chudech added another, a minute later.

In the second-half, Piyapan struck again in the 24th minute to put Thailand three up and five minutes later, Wanlop Pansomsua netted the fourth goal for Thailand.

Thai team captain Koghla Lakka's added the fifth goal in the 34th minute and Sorasak Poonjangreed sealed the victory for the kingdom in the 40th minute.

Jacobus said he was satisfied with the team spirit shown by his charges during the tournament and hoped they would continue to improve the quality of the game.

"This tournament is very special for the team because we didn't bring our usual superstars... this win against Australia was easier than I expected," he told reporters.

Earlier, Vietnam was placed third after defeating Indonesia 5-3.
