Terengganu emerged champions in Division 1 of the 45th edition of the Tun Razak Cup hockey tournament after they demolished first time finalists Police (PDRM) at the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil here tonight.

Terengganu, coached by Sarjit Singh, came alive in the second half and showed no mercy to PDRM who were newly promoted to the division.

PDRM, coached by Gurmeet Singh, were in control in the first half but were just not able the penetrate the stout Terengganu defence.

On resumption, Terengganu, champions in 2012, showed the stuff they were made of when team captain Faizal Saari fired home a penalty corner in the 41st minute and a field goal in the 52nd minute.

Five minutes later, Muhd Akhimullah Anuar Esook sealed victory for east coast side with their third via a field goal.

Speaking to reporters after the final, Sarjit Singh said he was very happy with the result more so with two of the goals scored field goals.

"Both team were cautious in the first half but after Faizal scored the first, the Terengganu players were in their element.

"I feel the hard work and commitment by the players and following team instructions paid of for us tonight," he said.

As winners, Terengganu took home RM10,000 and the trophy while PDRM were richer by RM7,000.

The Division 2 final saw Penang edge Perlis 3-2 in a penalty shoot out after regulation play ended in a 4-4 draw.

In the shoot-out, Muhammad Azrul Hasbullah, Izwan Firdaus Ahmad Tajuddin and Muhammad Rashid Baharom were on target for Penang while Muhammad Najmi Farizal Jazlan and Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tengku Abd Jalil for Perlis.

Meanwhile, Pahang whipped Armed Forces 4-0 to clinch the title in the women's category with the goals netted by Nuraini Abdul Rashid (22nd, 47th), Noorain Mohd Arshad (23rd) and Wan Nor Faiezah Md Saiuti (40th).
