The Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium will host a night match for the first time since the roof of the stadium collapsed in June 2009.

State Infrastructure and Public Utilities Committee chairman Rosli Othman said matches have been played at the stadium in the day time since early this month after repair works carried out had been declared safe.

"The first semifinal of the 2015 FA Cup will be played here between Terengganu and Lions XII from Singapore. However, we will only open half the section of the stadium which can accommodate about 20,000 spectators,” he told reporters after giving out flood aid to 45 traders of Pasar Tani Chukai, here Friday.

Rosli, who is also Kemasik assemblyman, said the state government would also have a meeting with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) before the match.

He said the stadium was reopened after repair works were carried out to complete the floodlights, field, sitting area, toilets and changing rooms.

“However, the grand stand roof has not been installed yet. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif has directed me to do the necessary," he said.

The roof of the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin which was built at a cost of RM290 million, primarily for the 2008 SUKMA hosted by Terengganu, collapsed in the month of June 2009, less than a year after completion.
