Defending champion Siti Zalina Ahmad failed to defend her title in the World Cup Singles lawn bowls championship on Wednesday.

In the final at Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club in New South Wales, Australia, Siti Zalina lost to Norfolk Island's Carmen Anderson 2-0.

The first set saw Carmen dominate from the start but Siti Zalina managed to catch up and level at 4-4 in the fifth Ends.

But luck was not with her after Carmen won the first set 6-5. In the second set, Carmen kept control until the eighth Ends and won in 7-6.

"I started my game quite slow. Always behind her at the beginning and in the middle of the game I started picking up. However, I'm happy with my performance and Carmen deserved to win.

"I am also thankful to my colleagues who came to support me and also the spectators at the venue who always supported me right from the beginning," said Siti Zalina in a live streaming interview by World Bowls Ltd.

The two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist advanced to the final after defeating Canada's Pricilla Westlake yesterday.

In the final in the men's category, Australia's Jeremy Henry beat Andrew Kyle of Ireland 8-6 and 9-3.
