Malaysian Chef-de-Mission to the 2015 SEA Games Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria is confident of achieving his personal target of 50 gold medals by the young Malaysian athletes at the 28th edition of the biennial games which will conclude officially on Tuesday.

He said that although Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin only set a target of 56 per cent of the total medals contested, he was confident that the Malaysian athletes competing this time were capable of exceeding the target.

Malaysia has so far won 45 gold medals and succeeded in surpassing the 43 gold achieved in the 2013 edition in Myanmar.

"I'm confident of the excellent performance put up by the national athletes currently and with three days remaining before the official closing of the games, the target of 50 gold medals can be achieved," he told reporters here on Saturday.
