Sarawak's strategy to win the champion title in the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2016 is to acquire a huge number of foreign coaches to train its athletes.

Perbadanan Sukan Sarawak (PSS) chief executive officer, Dr Ong Kong Swee said at the moment, the state had 13 foreign coaches instructing athletes in certain sports.

"We are in the process of shortlisting and employing them in preparing our athletes for next year's Sukma and other championships," he told reporters here today.

An independent three-member panel would select the prospective coaches nominate them to the Sarawak Social and Sports Development Ministry for approval, he said.

He said Sarawak Social Development Minister, Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom would announce the Sarawak's contingent's 'dream team' for Sukma 2016 at Dewan Suarah Kuching, 3pm, on June 12.

He added that the state would focus on sports that offer a lot of medals like cycling, taekwondo, shooting, athletics, aquatics and karate-do.
