Selangor skipper Safiq Rahim today confirmed that he would be playing for Johor next season.

Safiq who is also the national skipper said his decision to play for Johor had received the blessing of his family and the Football Association of Selangor.

"I have asked Johor for a 1 year contract with an option for another year because my intention is to join a club from any other Asean country in 2014, if I receive an offer," said Safiq whose contract with Selangor expires on Nov 30, 2012.

Apart from Safiq, Johor are said to have roped Armed Forces trio Mohd Aidil Zafuan, Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Razak, Mohd Azmi Muslim and Terengganu's Mohd Muslim Ahmad.

Safiq, a dead ball specialist, especially free kicks outside the penalty box, has played for Selangor since 2007.

He added that his decision to join Johor was to seek new challenges.

"I hope to win the Malaysia Cup with Johor since it is the only medal missing from my trophy cabinet since playing for Selangor," he said.
