Malaysian divers, Pandelela Rinong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri qualified for the women's individual 10-metre plafform finals at the Rio Olympic Games tonight (Malaysian time).

At the semi-finals at Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre in Rio de Janeiro, Pandelela and Nur Dhabitah finished sixth and 11th, respectively.

In the semfinals to decide the 12 qualifers, Pandelela, who won bronze in the event at the 2012 London Olympics, finished in sixth place with 336.95 points.

Nur Dhabitah, the youngest Olympian in the Malaysian contingent at 17, scored 307.65 points from her five dives to advance to 11th position.

The top 12 from the 18 in the semifinals advanced to the finals scheduled to start at 4pm today (3am in Malaysia).

China's Si Yajie led the leaderboard with 389.320 points followed by United States diver Jessica Parratto (367) and China's Ren Qian on 362.40 points.

Pandelela is seeking a second medal in Rio after clinching the synchronised 10m platform silver with Cheong Jun Hoong last week.

The finals will be held at approximately 3am (Malaysian time).
