“Pretty Boy” Kwon Won Il may have scored the fastest knockout win at ONE Championship’s double-header event in Tokyo, Japan last Sunday, 13 October, but the South Korean star is already craving his next assignment in The Home Of Martial Arts.

The Extreme Combat athlete – who is known for his knockout power – needed only 103 seconds to defeat Indonesia’s veteran martial arts exponent “The Terminator” Sunoto by technical knockout.

“I was expecting a finish, but only in the second round,” the taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist said.

“I only wanted to observe him in the first round. However, I was surprised that there was a gap, so I went for a finish and ended that bout.”

“I was genuinely surprised to finish earlier than that since I planned to conclude everything by the end of the second round.”

A closer look at Kwon’s record would suggest otherwise, as four of his five victories have come inside the opening stanza. The most recent was in April 2019, when he needed only 19 seconds to demolish his Filipino opponent at ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR in Manila.

However, “Pretty Boy” did not want to rush into a fashionable win because his Indonesian foe had an unpredictable strategy.

“I am naturally a brave person, and I’m never afraid of facing anyone.”

“But I have heard that Sunoto enjoys grappling and wrestling. So, in this sense, I had prepared to defend myself from his grappling, and it paid out,” he added.

The win pushed Kwon back into the winners' bracket, but the 24-year-old is far from satisfied with just another victory.

The South Korean has yet to win back-to-back matches, so he wants to do so in the hopes of one day reaching Bibiano Fernandes’ ONE Bantamweight World Title.

“I want to meet someone in the higher ranks, where I can beat him and go straight to the World Title bout.”

“If ever the World Champion does not have an opponent, I would definitely be available to step up to the challenge.”
