Police will monitor several social websites including Facebook accounts which spread hatred, causing trouble among football supporters.

This followed the incident in which stones were thrown at a bus carrying Kedah football supporters at Jalan Datuk Keramat, here.

Northeast Police chief Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the incident was promoted on Facebook and the police would not compromise on public order and hooliganism.

"We are monitoring several Facebook accounts for spreading hatred among football supporters. Stern action will be taken according to the provisions of the law," he said when contacted, here today.

On Tuesday, a group of men on motorcycles believed to be Penang football fans threw stones at a bus carrying Kedah supporters after the Super League match which saw Penang beat Kedah 3-2.

Yesterday, police arrested six men suspected of being involved, and all of them aged between 16 and 40 were remanded for four days from today, to facilitate investigations.
