Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has congratulated the national men's archery recurve squad for winning the bronze medal at the third stage of the Archery World Cup championship on Sunday.

"Congratulations Malaysia's men recurve squad for winning the bronze medal at the third stage of the World Cup Championship 2017. #KamiTeamMalaysia !," said the Prime Minister via his Twitter account tonight.


The national team beat Mexico 6-2 at the Salt Lake City Archery Centre, Utah, United States after defeating Great Britain 5-4 in the quarter finals.

However the national team failed to advance when they lost 1-5 to Russia in the semi finals.

According to the World Archery Federation official website, worldarchery.org, the Russian team represented by Vitalii Popov, Arsalan Baldanov and Artem Makhenko won the gold medal after defeating the trio team from Taiwan, Deng Yu-cheng, Peng Shih-cheng and Wei Chun-heng 5-1 in the finals.

Over 300 participants from 40 countries took part in the world championship.
