The purpose of submitting the controversial pendrive to the Youth and Sports Ministry was to solve the problems plaguing the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), and not to punish them, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said.

The Johor crown prince, popularly known as TMJ, urged those involved in the technical misconduct, as contained in the pendrive, to step down.

"The contents of the pendrive that I received are on technical misconducts such as favouritism, unprofessional coaches and exco members not carrying out their respective duties.

"I gave it to YB Khairy Jamaluddin to resolve the matter, not to punish the FAM or suspend them. If we suspend the FAM, it will affect our league," he said in a posting on the JOHOR Southern Tigers Facebook page on Saturday.

He added that it was time for the FAM to give way to other eligible individuals undertake responsibility and lead the association.

On Friday, Khairy, who is Youth and Sports Minister, handed the pendrive to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Putrajaya.

The pendrive, which contained a 279-page report, was handed to Khairy by TMJ on Aug 26.
