Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria hopes National badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei can focus on winning the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in August.

Norza said Chong Wei who had just recovered from an injury must be careful when competing in tournaments to avoid a similar fate.

Yesterday, Chong Wei who had suffered a ligament tear in his left knee last month, declared that he would compete in the All England Badminton Championships held in Birmingham, England from March 7-12.

Chong Wei who is the top seed in the men's singles has won the All England title in 2010, 2011 and 2014.

The world number one had received the greenlight to compete in the All England from physiotherapy specialist at the National Sports Institute (ISN), Dr Sandra Fiedler.

"I hope he (Chong Wei) can take one step at a time because he has not fully recovered and competition at that level will be very stiff," said Norza when met at 'The Champion's Blueprint' forum conducted by Dr Jeff Spencer in conjunction with the ALYA WTA Malaysian Open in TPC Kuala Lumpur, here today. - BERNAMA
