Malaysian squash queen, Datuk Nicol David continued her splendid performance after reaching the last four at the British Open Squash Championships held at Airco Arena in Hull, England on late Friday (Saturday in Malaysia.

The world number seven who is seeded sixth pulled off a suprise by defeating world number two and 2015 British Open champion, Camille Serme of France in the quarter-finals; winning in 11-6, 11-6, 11-8 in a 39-minute encounter.

The victory saw Nicol extend her winning streak to 15 matches against the 27-year-old Frenchwoman in all of their meetings on the Professional Squash Association World Series tournaments.

Nicol was extremely delighted as she picked up a victory against Serme who came into the match as the favourite after having won two PSA World Series titles; the 2016 United States Open last October and also the Tournament of Champions, early this season.

"She's had a really good season, winning several World Series events, so I just went in with nothing to lose.

"I went in with my game plan to try and gun down everything I could see, everything paid off and I was really pleased with my performance today," Nicol was quoted as saying in the tournament website;www.allambritishopensquash2017.com.

"She volleyed well, I did the same and I don't think there were any balls that we let go. It was some really solid squash.I went in there with a bang and I just want to bring it through to tomorrow now," the Penangite added.

Nicol who will made her first apperance in the first World Series Tour semi-finals since the Hong Kong Open last August, will take on hosts player, Sarah-Jane Perry for a place in the final on Sunday.

Seventh seed Perry booked her place after securing a victory against the 15th seed, Donna Urquhart of Australia in a gruelling five-setter; winning in 11-4, 7-11, 13-11, 6-11 and 11-4. -- Bernama
