A 12-year-old Japanese girl is set to make her mixed martial arts (MMA) debut against a professional fighter twice her age.

According WMMARankings.com, the girl, simply known as Momo, will fight 24-year-old Momoko Yamasaki in the 95-pound minimumweight division.

The event, Deep Jewels 16, will take place in Japan on May 20, 2017.

The fight will be tied down to amateur rules where striking to the head on the ground is not allowed and both fighters will be wearing head gear.

Momo trains out of Hakuhinkai Karate, a team that has produced notable Japanese talents such as Mizuki, Naoki Inoue, and Yukari Yamaguchi.

Her opponent, however is a former street-fighter and an experienced athlete with a professional MMA record of 2-3.
